I received this as a gift and started with the anticipation that it wouldn't be any good. However, I was pleasently surprised by a well written and entertaining novel! It is a self published first novel and is well crafted, but it lacks the polish and sophistication of Clancy or Ludlum, understandable for a first time novelist. However, Mr. McLain shows real promise as a writer.
I thought this book might be complicated, too militaristic, just not something I normally read. But I absolutely loved it. There is something of interest for everyone and it includes a lot of romance. The writing is fantastic.
